Boundaries
Boundaries
Clarity precedes all genuine work. The following outlines the nature of this practice, what it is and is not, and the responsibilities that both practitioner and client carry into the room. Read it carefully. If any part is unclear, ask before booking.
What This Work Is
This practice provides educational, developmental, and consultative services intended to assist individuals in understanding patterns of thought, behaviour, perception, and personal development. The work may involve structured discussion, reflective exercises, cognitive mapping, developmental assessment, symbolic and philosophical exploration, and personal growth planning. Participation is voluntary, collaborative, and may be discontinued by either party at any time.
What This Work Is Not
This practice is not psychological, psychiatric, medical, legal, or emergency care. No diagnosis, prescription, or medical treatment is provided. Where a client requires licensed clinical care or emergency intervention, appropriate referral will be recommended.
Risks
Personal development can involve confronting difficult memories, emotions, beliefs, and behavioural patterns. Clients may experience temporary discomfort, emotional fatigue, uncertainty, or periods of adjustment as new insights emerge. The practitioner will work to maintain a pace appropriate to the client's demonstrated stability and readiness. Any exercise or discussion may be paused or discontinued at the request of either party.
Emergency Situations
This practice is not designed to respond to emergencies. If you are experiencing active suicidal thoughts, immediate risk of harm, severe psychiatric crisis, medical emergency, or substance withdrawal requiring medical supervision — contact the appropriate emergency services or licensed healthcare providers immediately. Services may be suspended until stability has been re-established.
Ethical Principles
The practitioner commits to acting honestly and professionally, respecting the dignity and autonomy of every client, working within the limits of competence, protecting confidentiality except where disclosure is required by law or where there is an immediate risk of serious harm, avoiding coercion or manipulation, and obtaining ongoing informed consent throughout the process.
Client Responsibilities
Clients are expected to participate honestly, communicate concerns openly, accept responsibility for personal decisions, seek appropriate medical or mental health care when necessary, and understand that personal growth cannot be guaranteed.
Confidentiality
Information shared during consultations will remain confidential except where disclosure is required by law or where there is an immediate risk of serious harm to the client or another person. Anonymous case information may be used for research or educational purposes only after identifying information has been removed.
Informed consent is confirmed at the start of each engagement. Questions before booking can be raised during your Orientation session.
